Topic: A Gift You Can't Earn
Ephesians 2:8
"By grace you have been saved through faith... it is the gift of God." — Ephesians 2:8
CrossCamp Formation Truth
Grace isn't a debt to repay. It's a gift to receive.
Morning Reflection
A man once paid a stranger's hospital bill secretly. Weeks later, the stranger found him, insisting on paying it back. The man gently refused. "If you repay me," he said, "it stops being a gift. Let me have the joy of just giving it."
The Word
Some people find it hard to receive things they can't repay — including grace from God. But grace only works one way: it's given freely, not earned.
This doesn't mean effort doesn't matter in following Jesus — it does, but as a response to grace, not a payment for it. You're not working to be accepted. You're working from already being accepted.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A teacher once gave a struggling student a perfect score on a test he hadn't finished. The student tried to argue he didn't deserve it. The teacher smiled. "I know. That's exactly what makes it a gift."
Am I trying to earn something from God that He's already freely given me?
Practice receiving today — let someone help you or bless you without insisting on repaying them.
Father, thank You for grace I could never earn. Teach me to simply receive it today. Amen.
