Topic: Forgiving Without Forgetting the Hurt

Memory Verse
Colossians 3:13

"Forgive each other, as the Lord forgave you." — Colossians 3:13

CrossCamp Formation Truth

Bitterness doesn't punish them. It just adds a second wound to you.

Morning Reflection

A nurse once cared for a patient who had, years earlier, badly hurt someone in her own family in an accident. She recognized his name immediately. Colleagues offered to switch his care to someone else. She chose to treat him herself, with full kindness. "Bitterness wouldn't have healed my family," she said. "It would've just added a second wound to the first."

The Word

Forgiving "as the Lord forgave you" is a high standard — full forgiveness, not a half-hearted one. That can feel impossible when the hurt is deep.

But notice: you're not expected to forgive using your own strength alone. You're extending forgiveness you've already received.

Forgiveness doesn't mean the wrong didn't matter or that trust comes back automatically. It means letting go of your right to make someone "pay" — because that's not your job to carry (Romans 12:19). Sometimes it's less one big decision and more a daily choice.

A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today

A boy whose friend broke his favorite toy stayed angry for weeks, refusing to play with him. Eventually he realized his anger hadn't fixed the toy — it had only cost him a friend too.

CrossCamp Reflection

Is there a "second wound" — bitterness — that I've let grow on top of an old hurt?

Today's Walk

Pray by name for someone who has hurt you, asking God to bless them.

Prayer for Today

Lord, as You've forgiven me completely, help me forgive completely. I release the bitterness I've been carrying today. Amen.
