Topic: The Seed That Had to Die

Memory Verse
John 12:24

"Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it stays alone." — John 12:24

CrossCamp Formation Truth

Some endings aren't loss. They're the start of something bigger.

Morning Reflection

A farmer explained to his son why they bury perfectly good seed instead of keeping it safe in storage. "If we keep it," he said, "it stays exactly one seed. If we bury it, it stops being just a seed. It becomes something new — and it multiplies."

The Word

Jesus used this same idea to describe His own death, and it applies to us too: something has to end for something bigger to begin.

Following Jesus fully isn't just adding Him to an unchanged life. It means letting go of old ways of finding worth and safety — which can feel like a loss, because in some ways it is.

But Jesus' point isn't that the ending is the whole story. It's the beginning of something much bigger. Whatever you're afraid to lose in fully following Him, Scripture promises something greater grows in its place.

A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today

A boy refused to plant his only seed, afraid of losing it. His grandfather said, "If you never plant it, you'll always have one seed. If you do, you could have a whole field."

CrossCamp Reflection

What "old seed" — an old habit, an old way of feeling secure — is God asking me to let go of, so something bigger can grow?

Today's Walk

Name one thing you're willing to let go of today in following Jesus more fully. Say it in prayer.

Prayer for Today

Lord, I let go of what needs to end in me, trusting You for what grows after. Amen.
