Topic: A New Name

In some traditions, a person is given a meaningful new name at an important moment in life — a name that speaks of who they're becoming, not who they used to be. The old name isn't erased from history, but it no longer defines them.

This verse makes a bold claim: anyone in Christ is new — not improved, not patched up, actually new. The old is gone. The new has come.

This matters if you're still defining yourself by your past — by mistakes, by what people have said about you, by habits you assume are "just who you are." Scripture says your history is real and shaped you, but it doesn't get the final say on who you are now.

This new identity isn't something you build through effort. It's already true the moment you come to Christ — and you spend time afterward growing into really believing it.
