Morning Reflection
A farmer built a strong fence around his field, not because he expected trouble every day, but because he knew one unguarded gap could ruin an entire season's harvest.
The Word
What you allow into your heart — what you watch, listen to, think about, and who you spend time with — shapes everything else about you. That's why Proverbs calls it the most important thing to guard.
This isn't about becoming fearful or cutting yourself off from everything. It's about being intentional — noticing what's shaping your heart, and protecting it the way you'd protect something valuable, because everything else in your life flows from it.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A clean water source feeding a whole village was carefully fenced off from animals and waste, because the villagers knew: whatever got into the source would eventually reach every home.
What's currently getting into my heart that I need to guard against?
Identify one thing (a show, a habit, an influence) that isn't good for your heart, and limit it today.
Lord, help me guard my heart carefully. Show me what needs to change. Amen.
