Morning Reflection
A farmer worked seven days a week for years, refusing to rest even one day, believing rest meant falling behind. His crops eventually suffered more from his exhaustion than they ever would have from one day off a week.
The Word
God built rest into creation itself — even resting on the seventh day after making the world, not because He was tired, but to show us rest matters. New believers sometimes think busyness proves devotion. It doesn't. Rest, done well, is actually an act of trust — trusting that the world (and your life) doesn't fall apart if you stop for a moment.
Rest isn't laziness. It's recognizing you're not God, and you were never meant to carry everything without stopping.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A woodcutter who refused to stop and sharpen his dull axe kept swinging harder and harder, cutting less and less wood each hour — until he finally stopped, sharpened it, and finished the job faster than ever.
Have I been treating rest like laziness instead of like trust?
Take one real break today — no phone, no tasks — and let it be an act of trusting God.
Lord, teach me to rest well. Help me trust You enough to stop and be still. Amen.
