Morning Reflection
A young athlete constantly compared his progress to a teammate's, feeling discouraged every time the teammate seemed further ahead. His coach finally told him, "You're not running his race. You're running yours. Stop checking his lane."
The Word
Comparison is one of the sneakiest ways to lose joy in your walk with Christ. You'll always find someone who seems "further along" — more disciplined, more confident, more gifted — and comparison will always leave you feeling behind.
God isn't grading you against anyone else's journey. He's growing you at your own pace, in your own lane. Checking someone else's lane doesn't make you run faster. It just makes you stumble.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A farmer growing mangoes kept comparing his young trees to his neighbor's older, fruit-bearing ones, feeling like a failure — forgetting that his neighbor's trees had simply had more years to grow.
Who have I been comparing my spiritual growth to, and how has that comparison been affecting me?
Today, resist checking anyone else's "lane." Focus only on your own next step with God.
Lord, help me stop comparing my journey to others. Help me trust the pace You have me on. Amen.
