Morning Reflection
A builder near Kumasi once explained why a house with a small, hidden crack in its foundation is more dangerous than one with an obvious problem on the surface. "You can see and fix a broken window," he said. "But a crack underground, you don't notice — until the whole wall falls."
Pride works the same way. It rarely looks dangerous on the surface. It just quietly cracks the foundation.
The Word
Pride isn't always loud bragging. Sometimes it's much quieter — thinking you don't need help, refusing to admit you're wrong, believing you deserve more credit than you're getting.
Proverbs 16:18 warns that pride leads to a fall — not because God is waiting to punish proud people, but because pride itself is unstable. It convinces you that you don't need God or other people, and that belief always eventually breaks.
Growing deep starts with noticing the cracks pride causes, before they cause real damage.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A boy refused to ask for directions even after getting completely lost, insisting he could find the way alone. He wasted hours walking in circles before finally admitting he needed help — the exact thing that would have saved him from the start.
Where has pride convinced me I don't need help — from God or from others?
Ask someone for help with something today, even something small, on purpose.
Lord, show me the hidden cracks pride has caused in me. Teach me to depend on You. Amen.
