Morning Reflection

A gardener explained why he prunes back even healthy-looking branches on his mango trees each season. "It looks like I'm hurting the tree," he said, "but cutting back what's already grown makes room for what's coming next."

The Word

Humility isn't thinking badly of yourself. It's an honest, accurate view of yourself — including your need for God and other people. It makes room for growth pride never allows, because pride is too full of itself to have space left for anything new.

James 4:10 promises something surprising: humbling yourself isn't the end of your story. It's actually the beginning of being lifted up — not by your own effort, but by God Himself.

A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today

A cup already completely full cannot receive anything more poured into it, no matter how good the offer. Only an emptied cup has room to be filled with something new.
