Morning Reflection
A boy about to give a class presentation described his fear as a voice constantly whispering he would fail, embarrassing him in front of everyone. His teacher told him, "Fear always talks the loudest right before you're about to do something important. That's usually a sign it matters, not a sign you'll fail."
The Word
Fear has a way of sounding extremely convincing, even when it's wrong. It exaggerates, assumes the worst, and speaks with total confidence about things that haven't even happened yet.
Psalm 56:3 doesn't say fear will disappear. It says: when I am afraid — not if — I put my trust in God. Trust doesn't require the absence of fear. It's simply choosing to believe God's voice is more reliable than fear's.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A loud, barking dog behind a fence looked terrifying to a young boy walking past — until he realized the fence was solid and the dog couldn't actually reach him at all. The bark was loud. The danger wasn't real.
What is fear "loudly" telling me right now that I need to test against what's actually true?
When fear speaks today, respond out loud with a specific truth from Scripture instead.
Lord, when I'm afraid, I choose to trust You. Help me hear Your voice louder than fear today. Amen.
