Morning Reflection
Two friends once argued for weeks over who was right about a small disagreement, both refusing to speak first, both certain the other should apologize. The friendship stayed broken far longer than the actual disagreement deserved — because neither one valued peace more than being right.
The Word
Romans 12:18 is realistic — it says "as far as it depends on you," acknowledging you can't control how others respond. But it also makes clear: your part is choosing peace, even when you feel you're in the right.
Being right and being at peace aren't always the same goal. Sometimes maturity means choosing the relationship over winning the argument.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
Two goats met on a narrow bridge too small for both to cross at once, each refusing to back up first — until one of them, at cost to its own pride, finally stepped aside, and both were able to continue safely.
Is there a disagreement where I've been more focused on being right than on being at peace?
If there's a conflict you've been holding onto, take one step toward peace today, even if you feel you're right.
Lord, help me value peace more than being right today. Show me one step I can take. Amen.
