Morning Reflection
A cocoa farmer near Kumasi, despite a modest harvest one season, still set aside a portion to help a struggling neighbor. Asked why, given his own tight resources, he said simply, "Closed hands can't receive anything new. Open hands can."
The Word
Generosity isn't about how much you have. It's about how open your hands are with what you do have. A closed, fearful grip on your resources doesn't actually protect you — it just keeps you clenched and anxious.
Luke 6:38 isn't a formula for getting rich by giving. It's a picture of how generosity keeps your heart open, trusting God as the real source, instead of gripping tightly out of fear.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A boy who clenched his fist tightly around a coin couldn't receive a second coin offered to him — his hand was already full and closed. Only when he opened his hand to give could he also receive.
Where have I been closing my hands out of fear instead of opening them in generosity?
Give something away today — money, time, or an item — as an act of trust in God's provision.
Lord, open my hands today. Help me trust You enough to be generous. Amen.
