Morning Reflection
A young man dreaming of leading a large ministry someday felt discouraged serving in a small, unnoticed role at his local church, assuming it didn't matter compared to his bigger dream. Years later, looking back, he realized: that small, unnoticed season had actually prepared him for everything that came after.
The Word
A lot of people wait to start pursuing their calling until conditions feel big enough, important enough, or impressive enough. Zechariah 4:10 says not to despise small beginnings — because that's usually exactly where real preparation happens.
Faithfulness in small, unnoticed places is rarely wasted. It's often the exact training ground for what comes later.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A massive river, powerful enough to carve through solid rock over centuries, began as a small, easily overlooked spring bubbling up from the ground.
Have I been despising a small beginning, waiting for something bigger before I start being faithful?
Show up faithfully today in whatever small role or task is in front of you right now.
Lord, help me not despise small beginnings. Teach me to be faithful in what's in front of me today. Amen.
