Morning Reflection
A patient sitting in a hospital waiting room once described how much harder the waiting felt than the actual appointment itself — the uncertainty, the not knowing, the feeling of time standing still while everything hung in the balance.
The Word
Waiting is one of the hardest spiritual disciplines, because it feels like nothing is happening — but often, God is working in ways you simply can't see yet, the way roots grow underground long before any visible fruit appears.
Psalm 27:14 repeats "wait for the Lord" twice, almost like an acknowledgment that waiting is genuinely hard and needs to be said more than once. It also pairs waiting with being strong and taking heart — waiting isn't passive giving up. It's active trust.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A woman waiting for bread dough to rise saw no visible change for the first while, and worried something had gone wrong. But underneath the surface, the yeast was quietly, invisibly doing exactly what it was meant to do.
What am I currently waiting on that feels like nothing is happening?
In your current waiting season, thank God today for what He might be doing that you can't yet see.
Lord, give me strength to wait well. Help me trust You're working, even when I can't see it. Amen.
