Morning Reflection
A boy always behaved impressively whenever teachers were present, but treated classmates poorly the moment adults left the room. A wise mentor eventually told him, "Who you are when no one's watching is who you actually are. The rest is just performance."
The Word
Character isn't what you show people when you know you're being observed. It's who you consistently are when no one would ever find out otherwise.
1 Samuel 16:7 reminds us God isn't fooled by outward performance — He looks at the heart, the private, unseen places where our real character actually lives.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A tree's roots, completely hidden underground, determine whether it survives a storm — not the impressive height or fullness of its visible branches above ground.
Is there a gap between how I behave when watched and how I behave when I think no one's looking?
Pay close attention today to your choices when you think no one's watching, and let that shape your integrity.
Lord, You see my heart, not just my performance. Grow real character in me, seen or unseen. Amen.
