Morning Reflection
A well that's genuinely full overflows naturally, without straining or forcing the water out. A well that's nearly empty has to be pumped hard just to get a small trickle. Serving others works similarly — it flows naturally out of a heart that's already full of God's love, rather than being forced out of an empty, exhausted one.
The Word
A lot of people try to serve from empty, exhausted hearts, hoping the act of serving itself will somehow fill them up. It usually works the other way around: serving flows best out of a heart that's already being filled by time with God.
This is why this whole month mattered — dealing with pride, fear, and bitterness wasn't separate from learning to serve. It was preparation for it. A heart cluttered with those things has less room to genuinely overflow toward others.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A cup poured from while completely empty produces nothing but noise and struggle. A cup poured from after being filled overflows easily, without strain, onto everything nearby.
Am I trying to serve from an empty heart, or am I letting God fill me first?
Spend time with God today before serving anyone else, letting Him fill you first.
Lord, fill my heart today. Let my service overflow from being full of You, not from being empty. Amen.
