Topic: Roots Before Fruit
Psalm 1:3
"Blessed is the one... whose delight is in the law of the Lord... That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season." — Psalm 1:1–3
Core Scripture (KJV)
Psalm 1:1–3
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Morning Reflection
A farmer explained why he never worries when a newly planted tree shows no visible fruit in its first season. "The tree isn't wasting time," he said. "It's spending everything on roots first. The fruit always comes after, never before."
The Word
This month has been about roots — pride confronted, fear named, bitterness released, character built in small moments, patience practiced in waiting. None of that is the "fruit" people usually notice from the outside. It's the root system that makes real fruit possible later.
Psalm 1 promises that a tree planted by water yields fruit "in season" — not immediately, not on demand, but at the right time, because the roots did their quiet work first.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
Two identical-looking seeds were planted the same day. One grew in shallow soil and looked fine at first, but couldn't survive the first real storm. The other grew in deep soil, taking longer to show above-ground growth, but stood firm when the storm came.
Am I willing to let my roots grow deep, even if it means the visible "fruit" takes longer to show?
Thank God today specifically for the root-level growth this month, even without visible fruit yet.
Lord, thank You for growing my roots this month. Help me trust that the fruit will come in its season. Amen.
