Morning Reflection
A young woman at church noticed the chairs were always left messy after every service, but no one was ever specifically assigned to fix it. One Sunday, without being asked, she simply started rearranging them herself. Within weeks, others quietly joined her — not because they were told to, but because someone had shown them what needed doing.
The Word
A lot of service happens only when someone is specifically assigned or asked. Real spiritual maturity notices what needs doing and does it — not to be seen, but because it needs to be done, and you're capable of doing it.
Colossians 3:23 says to work "as working for the Lord," not for recognition or instruction from people. That changes how you see unnoticed, unassigned needs around you.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A traveler noticed a large stone blocking a road that many people had simply walked around for weeks, complaining about it but never moving it. He finally stopped, moved it himself, and found a bag of gold underneath left specifically for whoever would take initiative.
What need have I noticed but assumed "someone else" would handle?
Notice one unassigned need today, and take initiative to meet it without being asked.
Lord, help me notice needs around me and serve without waiting to be asked. Amen.
