Morning Reflection
A young manager entrusted with his employer's shop for the first time realized, with some weight, that every decision he made affected something that ultimately belonged to someone else, not himself. That realization changed how carefully he handled even small details.
The Word
Stewardship means managing something well that actually belongs to someone else. Your time, money, talents, even your body — Scripture describes all of it as things entrusted to you by God, not things you fully own outright.
1 Corinthians 4:2 says the requirement for a steward is simple: faithfulness. Not brilliance, not perfection — just consistent, careful faithfulness with what's been entrusted to you.
A Simple Story Jesus Might Tell Today
A servant given careful instructions to water a wealthy man's garden while he traveled treated it with the same care as if it were his own, knowing his master would one day return and see exactly how it had been kept.
What has God entrusted to me that I've been treating carelessly, as if it were fully mine to do whatever I want with?
Identify one area — time, money, a relationship — and treat it today as something entrusted to you, not owned by you.
Lord, help me remember that what I have is entrusted to me, not owned by me. Make me faithful with it. Amen.
