Foundational Pillars Training

September 2026 — Week 4 Trusted With the House: Stewardship, Responsibility & Readiness

2026 Annual Theme: FOUNDING & FLOURISHING (Psalm 92:13-14).

Stage 6: Establishment & Kingdom Readiness.

September Prophetic Theme: ESTABLISHED TO BUILD — Established in Christ, Character, Unity and Assignment.

Core Scriptures

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 — "Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful."

Luke 16:10-12 — "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?"

1 Peter 4:10-11 — "As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God... that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ."

Nehemiah 2:17-18 — "Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach. And they said, Let us rise up and build. Then they set their hands to this good work."

Teaching Focus

God does not entrust His house merely to gifted people; He entrusts it to faithful people. Week 1 dealt with being established in Christ, Week 2 with being planted in the house, and Week 3 with building with one heart. Now we arrive at an important question: can God trust me with what He is building?

A pillar is not simply someone who attends, participates, or possesses a gift. A pillar is someone who can be trusted with responsibility. As CrossCamp approaches its public ministry season and planned January 2027 commissioning, the question is no longer simply, "Who is available?" It becomes, "Who is faithful?"

Part One — Stewards, Not Owners

Paul describes ministers as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God, and then gives the standard: it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. He does not say talented, popular, charismatic, highly educated or influential — but faithful. A steward is someone entrusted with something that belongs to another, which means everything we carry in ministry ultimately belongs to God. Our gifts, time, resources, opportunities, relationships, responsibilities and influence are not possessions to control selfishly; they are trusts to manage faithfully.

Excitement can start something; faithfulness sustains it. There are seasons when ministry feels exciting and visible, and seasons when it becomes ordinary, repetitive, demanding, inconvenient and unseen. The mature pillar remains faithful in both. Anyone can be committed when everything is exciting; a trusted pillar remains committed when the work becomes ordinary.

Part Two — Faithful in Little

Jesus teaches, "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much." Sometimes people desire large responsibility while neglecting small responsibility. They want leadership before discipline, platforms before preparation, authority before accountability, and recognition before service. But God's pattern is different: small responsibility becomes the classroom for greater responsibility. If someone cannot faithfully arrive on time, communicate properly, complete an assignment, keep a commitment, handle resources carefully, respect people, or receive correction, then increasing their responsibility may only increase the damage.

Part Three — Biblical Examples

Part Four — What a Trusted Pillar Looks Like

A trusted pillar keeps their word and makes every reasonable effort to fulfil what they commit to. They communicate: when they cannot fulfil an assignment, they do not disappear. They handle resources carefully, treating money, equipment, information, time and opportunities responsibly. They respect confidentiality. They receive correction, understanding that correction is not rejection but part of formation. They do not need constant supervision, because maturity produces initiative. And they protect the vision, refusing to use ministry opportunities to promote personal agendas.

Pillars must learn to distinguish between personal preference ("what I personally like"), personal ambition ("what I want to become"), and Kingdom assignment ("what God has entrusted us to build"). There will be moments when your preference differs from the direction of the house; that is where maturity is tested.

As CrossCamp prepares to receive more people, leadership will increasingly involve people. People are not projects; they are souls. A trusted pillar learns to listen, encourage, protect, guide, pray, correct appropriately, avoid favouritism, avoid manipulation, and treat people with dignity. The future members of CrossCamp should not merely encounter our programmes; they should encounter Christ through our character.

Time is one of the greatest resources God gives us. A pillar who constantly arrives late, misses commitments or postpones responsibilities may unintentionally weaken the house, because my time affects other people's ability to fulfil their assignments. Faithfulness therefore includes punctuality, preparation and consistency.

Instead of asking, "When will I be given a position?" ask, "What responsibility can I faithfully carry now?" Instead of, "Why haven't I been recognised?" ask, "Have I demonstrated faithfulness?" Instead of, "What can CrossCamp give me?" ask, "What can I give to what God is building?"

Reflective Direction

This week, practise faithfulness before seeking greater responsibility. Complete what you have been assigned. Arrive prepared. Communicate clearly. Keep your commitments. Protect unity. Encourage another pillar. Take initiative where appropriate. Serve without seeking recognition. Faithfulness is preparation.

Practical Assignment for the Week

Your Assignment Checklist

  • My Stewardship Audit.
  • Write down five things privately.
  • My time: where am I wasting time that could be invested in God and His assignment?
  • My gift: what ability has God given me that I am not fully using?
  • My responsibility: what must I become more consistent in?
  • My character: what weakness could limit my future leadership?
  • My next step: what one practical action will demonstrate greater faithfulness this week?
  • At the end of the week write, "What did my actions this week reveal about my level of stewardship?"

Prayer for Character — Psalm 139:23-24: Search my heart and expose anything that could weaken my ability to serve You faithfully.

Prayer for Servanthood — Mark 10:43-45: Deliver me from the desire for position without responsibility. Give me the heart of a servant.

Prayer for CrossCamp Pillars — Lord, establish trustworthy pillars in this house. Give us people who can carry responsibility without pride, authority without abuse, and influence without losing humility.

Prayer for January 2027 — Father, prepare CrossCamp for its commissioning. Before You increase the number of people, increase our capacity. Before You enlarge the house, strengthen its pillars.

Monthly Declaration

Declare it aloud

I am a steward, not an owner.

What God places in my hands, I will handle faithfully.

I will be faithful in little and responsible in much.

I will not seek position without preparation or influence without character.

I will protect the vision, honour the house, serve people, and remain teachable.

I choose faithfulness over recognition and responsibility over entitlement.

I am becoming someone God can trust.

Amen.

Reflect & Pray

What has God already placed in my hands, and am I managing it faithfully? If He increased my responsibility today, would my character carry it?
